Position Overview
Our Quality Department is seeking six (6) motivated Quality Engineers to support critical quality initiatives for a major manufacturing customer aligned with Caterpillar’s quality strategy. This role is ideal for junior to mid-level candidates (ranging from recent engineering graduates up to 7 years of experience) who thrive in a hands-on environment.
You will play a vital role in both proactive quality assurance (defect prevention) and reactive problem-solving (real-time issue investigation) directly on the shop floor, ensuring the highest standards of production excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Floor Defect Management: Identify and document defects on the production floor; proactively trace and audit previously built units for similar issues.
Data & Communication: Collect, analyze, and communicate non-conformance data effectively to stakeholders.
Root Cause Analysis: Investigate real-time quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with production teams and cross-functional engineering groups to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns.
Continuous Improvement: Support the implementation of best practices focused on defect prevention, variation reduction, and waste elimination.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
Experience: 0 to 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering environment (Candidates with more than 7 years of experience will not be considered).
Technical Skills: A basic understanding of core quality tools (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, Root Cause Analysis).
Environment: Strong willingness to work actively on the shop floor and collaborate directly with production operators.
Soft Skills: Excellent documentation skills, a proactive mindset toward problem-solving, and the ability to effectively communicate technical issues to diverse stakeholders.
