Position Summary

The Clinical Research Laboratory Technician supports the conduct of clinical trials by collecting and processing biological specimens, performing participant assessments, and assisting with data and administrative tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to study protocols and lab manuals, and the ability to work effectively as part of a clinical research team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, label, and ship blood and other biological specimens per protocol and laboratory manuals.
  • Perform study procedures such as ECGs, vital signs, and other participant assessments.
  • Accurately document findings in source records, logs, and electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
  • Complete required study-specific and general training (protocols, GCP, safety, laboratory handling).
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), SOPs, biosafety, and infection control requirements.
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, data entry, filing, and preparation of study materials.
  • Assist with general site operations such as answering phones, reminder calls to participants, and requesting/obtaining medical records.
  • Collaborate with coordinators, investigators, and site staff to support smooth trial operations.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support overall site operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a scientific or healthcare field preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification or equivalent experience with venipuncture.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory, clinical trial site, or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to perform ECGs and vital signs (training may be provided).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow written protocols.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; experience with EDC/CTMS preferred).
  • BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Compensation

  • Annual Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
