About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and safety‑driven Supervisor – Aviation Ground Safety to lead and support ground safety operations within an aviation maintenance environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety of personnel, aircraft, equipment, and facilities while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture.
The successful candidate will manage ground safety programs, conduct risk assessments and investigations, deliver safety training, and work closely with internal teams and customers to ensure full compliance with aviation safety regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Aviation Ground Safety and Occupational Health Program
- Implement and monitor Ground Safety Management System (SMS) practices
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across aviation maintenance operations
- Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive safety measures
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near‑misses; prepare detailed reports and recommendations
- Develop, implement, and deliver safety education and training programs
- Promote safety awareness and a Just Safety Culture across all levels
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, customer requirements, and aviation safety standards
- Collaborate with customer representatives and cross‑functional teams on safety initiatives
- Supervise and mentor ground safety and HSE personnel
- Support emergency response planning and safety‑related initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field
- Graduate of a recognized Aviation or Ground Safety Officer course (ASOC, GSOC, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related discipline
- Professional safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, BCSP or equivalent)
- Aviation maintenance background or UAEMAR Part 66 License
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in occupational safety and health
- Preferred:
- 7 years military experience as a Safety Officer or
- 10 years civilian experience in aviation safety
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to relocate and work in Abu Dhabi, UAE
- Valid driving license is mandatory
- Ability to work in operational and industrial environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills
