Overview
The Officer - Ground Safety plays a vital role in supporting the Supervisor and management in all aspects of Occupational Safety and Health. This position involves providing both field and administrative support in the development and management of the command's ground safety program. The Officer - Ground Safety will coordinate safety initiatives across the organization, maintain detailed safety records, analyze mishap statistics, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
This position will be filled based on the candidate's knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team.
Responsibilities
- Under supervision, provide comprehensive safety support to ensure worker safety and compliance with applicable federal, emirate, local regulations, and customer requirements.
- Understand health, safety, and environmental hazards in the assigned location and report regularly to line management on the issues associated with regulatory compliance in support areas.
- Develop working relationships with line managers and workers in the assigned area and maintain field presence to nurture those relationships.
- Evaluate work activities and work with line management to identify hazards, recommend controls, and observe work being performed to ensure controls are adequate.
- Conduct health and safety evaluations and inspections of buildings, equipment and apparatus to identify hazards and deficiencies, review collected data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to resolve and prevent recurrence of health, safety, and occupational exposures.
- Serve as the subject matter expert of at least one safety discipline for the overall safety program.
- Write and review technical reports.
- Review and evaluate new/changed health and safety standards, procedures, engineering drawings, and diagrams for conformance to health and safety workplace standards.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and reports of occupational injury / illness / exposures for possible causes.
- Prepare documentation and recommend appropriate measures to eliminate or mitigate reoccurrence.
- Provide emergency response support to incidents on-site.
- Write and deliver safety related training.
- Satisfactorily complete the HSE Professional qualification requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years direct related military experience as a unit Safety Officer or 10 years of direct related civilian experience as a safety professional.
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or related field, and/or 5 years direct professional experience.
- Graduate from a recognized Aviation Safety Officer Course (ASOC), Ground Safety Officer Course(GSOC), equivalent course, or equivalent group of training courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Safety certification, credential, or qualification issued from a recognized safety board or institution. (BCSP, IOSH, NEBOSH, etc.)
- Specialized expertise in industrial safety, industrial hygiene, ammunition & explosives safety, aviation safety, hazardous materials, or other relevant discipline.
- FAA A&P/AMT License, EASA Part 66 License, and/or 5 years direct aviation maintenance experience.

Pay: $7, $8,000.00 per month
