We are seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our dynamic legal and compliance team in Melbourne, FL. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s corporate legal objectives, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, managing risk, and contributing to strategic initiatives across multiple business lines.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Stay Ahead of Legal Developments: Analyze statutory, case law, and regulatory changes impacting all areas of the company’s operations.
- Coordinate & Respond: Lead efforts in responding to market conduct examinations, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions.
- Facilitate Licensing Processes: Support agent appointment and licensing processes to streamline operations and maintain compliance.
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor and interpret state-specific insurance laws, implementing necessary updates and process enhancements.
- Risk Management: Support the company’s compliance program by identifying and addressing key risk areas.
- Document & Oversee: Maintain detailed legal and compliance records and ensure fulfillment of reporting requirements.
- Contracts & Agreements: Review, draft, and negotiate company contracts and agreements to protect business interests.
- Develop Policies: Create and enforce internal policies that align with legal and regulatory standards.
- Communicate Legal Insights: Draft and distribute legal memos, bulletins, and alerts to keep business leaders informed of relevant changes.
- Advise on Claims: Provide legal counsel regarding claims coverage and related issues.
- Manage Litigation: Oversee claims litigation and coordinate with external counsel as needed.
- Ensure Product Compliance: Review and update insurance products to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of legal practice, preferably within an insurance company or law firm; prior claims litigation experience a plus.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Property & Casualty insurance; experience with state insurance departments and regulatory compliance processes preferred.
- Bar Membership: Active membership in the Florida Bar preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of admitted and surplus lines products, insurance policy language, and coverage interpretation.
- Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, strong research and analytical skills, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism: Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical conduct.
Salary : $200,000 - $225,000
