The Wachusett Regional School District (WRSD) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educator to serve as Project Lead The Way STEAM Teachers. These positions support the integration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through hands-on, project-based learning experiences aligned with the Launch (K–5) and Gateway (6–8) curricula. The STEAM Teacher will report to the building principal.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based STEAM instruction across multiple grade levels using the PLTW programs.
- Facilitate inquiry-based, inclusive learning environments that foster student creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Manage lab equipment, technology tools, and classroom safety in alignment with PLTW best practices.
- Support students in developing foundational skills in design, coding, engineering, and digital literacy.
- Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, specialists, and district STEAM teachers.
- Participate in annual PLTW core training and ongoing professional development.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Promote equitable access to STEAM opportunities for all learners.
- All duties as specified by the building principal.
Qualifications:
- MA DESE licensure in appropriate grade level or related field (STEM/Science/Math/Computer Literacy/Tech-Eng, Elementary).
- PLTW training and/or experience in Launch and/or Gateway preferred (summer 2025 training will be provided if not yet certified).
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students in a hands-on, technology-rich environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered instruction and interdisciplinary learning.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with design thinking, makerspace tools, coding platforms, robotics, and digital fabrication.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues across schools.
- Experience differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs.
