Medical Staff Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Staff Assistant provides administrative and credentialing support in the Medical Staff Services Department to ensure facility compliance with regulatory requirements set forth by CMS and DNV, as well as Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and other organizational policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with processing and maintaining provider applications, credentials, certifications and other confidential medical staff records
• Assists with running monthly OPPE reports for all reappointments, staff status or privilege change requests and provisional advancements
• Coordinates and prepares monthly/quarterly/ad hoc Medical Staff department and committee meetings
• Prepares correspondence and reports for Medical Staff members and as internal requests arise
• Presents initial and reappointment files to Medical Staff Leadership for review and approval
• Updates credentialing and EMR database
• Tracks credentialing requirements and deadlines to include monthly expirable reports for 400 staff members
• Assists with communication to healthcare providers and internal departments
• Compiles monthly call schedules and all revisions throughout the month, to include notification to all internal departments as revisions are made
• Processes and submits all EMR systems access requests for medical staff members and their support personnel
• Assists EMR users with EMR access issues

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Highly organized
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe PDF.
• Credentialing software experience preferred but not required.
• Time management skills-ability to reprioritize tasks as urgency and needs change.
• Ability to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and their support staff including regularly updating applicants on the status of their applications for staff membership

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or GED
• Credentialing experience preferred
