Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)About Us

Glenwood Center is a collaborative outpatient mental health practice committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatric providers, licensed therapists, and a Clinical Psychologist who work together to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our growing practice. This position begins with maternity coverage from September through November, with the expectation that the selected provider will continue managing an established patient panel as a permanent member of our team.

Position Details

  • Part-time to full-time (2–4 days per week)
  • Permanent 1099 Independent Contractor position
  • In-person practice with a combination of office and telehealth appointments
  • Monday-Friday schedule (no evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities)
  • Flexible scheduling available

  • 60-minute new evaluations, 20-minute follow-ups
  • Dedicated support staff who handle prior authorizations, scheduling, and referrals
  • Collaborative access to a Clinical Psychologist
  • Minimal administrative burden
  • Ability to develop niche interests such as ADHD, women’s mental health, pediatrics, etc.
  • Steady referral base with a full caseload available
  • Modern EMR Tebra and efficient workflows

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for new patients.
  • Provide ongoing medication management for children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Diagnose and treat a broad range of outpatient psychiatric conditions, including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, and other common mental health conditions.
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications while monitoring treatment response, side effects, and patient safety.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and other diagnostic testing when clinically indicated.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment recommendations.
  • Respond to medication refill requests and patient messages through the electronic health record.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Incorporate recommendations from psychological and neuropsychological evaluations into ongoing treatment planning when appropriate.
  • Identify patients requiring a higher level of care and coordinate referrals as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal prescribing regulations and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current PMHNP-BC certification.
  • Active and unrestricted Illinois Nurse Practitioner license (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Active NPI number.
  • Current professional malpractice insurance.
  • Experience treating patients across the lifespan preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric care.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EHR/EMR).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Compensation

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
