Early Childhood Camp Director (Part-Time, Seasonal)

JOB SUMMARY

In this fun and rewarding position, you will be responsible for:

• Overseeing all operations of the camp site
• Coordinating with the Recreation Supervisor to create a schedule of events for the summer
• Actively supervising camp counselors to ensure staff are following proper procedures and adhering to safe practices
• Planning a full summer of daily activities and games
• Creating staff schedule
• Maintaining orderly records and file appropriate documents with the Recreation Supervisor in a timely manner, including but not limited to: attendance records, sign in/out records, lesson plans, behavior/incident reports, accident reports and receipts
• Coordinating staff training and regular meetings with camp staff to address program issues
• Developing and implementing pool rotation to ensure camp participants are being properly supervised in the water (pool attendance dependent on camp)
• Ensuring rooms and equipment are maintained properly
• Engaging in regular communication with parents, campers, and staff
• Ensuring safety for all participants and administering basic first aid, as necessary
• Assisting with set-up and break-down of campsite
• Demonstrating fiscal responsibility by following program budget
• Meeting regularly with the Recreation Supervisor to communicate issues and request related to the program
• Providing excellent internal and external customer service
• Providing excellent care to children aged 3-5 years old

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have:

• Experience working in a summer camp or equivalent
• Knowledge and skills with computers and software (Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Knowledge of camps and camp activities
• Requires flexibility of work schedules which may include arriving early, staying late
• Excellent skills in working with children
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents, campers, and staff
• Highly organized
• Early Childhood experience

SCHEDULING & PAY

This is a part-time position in the summer. Qualified persons MUST be available for:

• Training the week of June 1
• All weeks of camp: June 8-Beginning of August (end date will vary depending on the camp)
• Work weekdays, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (hours will vary depending on the camp)
• Camp Staff will be required to work on the 4th of July, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (hours will vary depending on staffing assignment)

Pay starts at $19.00/hour and is dependent on qualifications.
