What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Girls Basketball Assitant Coach position at Glens Falls City School District?
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Adhere to injury procedures established by the Glens Falls Athletic Department.
- Ensure that all coaches work together toward a common goal within their respected programs.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities on a regular basis(i.e. statistics, challenge matches etc.). Advise students and parents on the athletic code of conduct and the consequences of violation of the code.
- Train and inform staff and encourage professional growth by promoting clinic attendance.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.l
- Work with the athletic department to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements (i.e. facilities, busing, camps, special events, etc.) Annually establish and meet performance goals.
- Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of town trips.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, and encourage sportsman conduct in all phases of athletic participation. Maintain inventory of all uniforms and equipment within the program.
- Establish and maintain open, professional and respectful communications with students, parents, teachers, youth coaches and the athletic director.
Job Qualifications
Coaching Requirements:
Valid NYS Fingerprinting Clearance
Up-to-date First-Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
Concussion Training
DASA & CAR/SAVE Training
Valid NYS Coaching Certification (can be obtained simultaneously)
