Job Summary
Full time or Part time hours available, evening shift only.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the health and well-being of pets while also assisting in clinical procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of veterinary practices and a genuine love for animals.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide education to pet owners on proper animal care and health maintenance.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
- Restrain animals safely and effectively for examinations and treatments.
- Assist with dental cleanings and procedures as needed.
- Participate in animal husbandry tasks, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all animals.
Skills
- Proficient in veterinary terminology to communicate effectively within the clinic.
- Knowledgeable in animal husbandry practices to promote optimal health care.
- Experience with animal catheterization techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry.
- Ability to apply aseptic techniques in clinical settings.
- Skills in animal restraint to ensure safety for both the technician and the animals.
- Understanding of equine care is a plus for those working with larger animals.
- Competence in laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine.
