Glenmere Mansion has 18 guest accommodations, 2 superb restaurants- The Supper Room and the Frogs End Tavern, The Spa at Glenmere, and exceptional recreational facilities.

Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and decisive Director of Events and Sales to join our team in Chester, United States. As the Director of Events and Sales, you will be responsible for selling, planning and producing events on property such as weddings, corporate meetings and other private social events.

The day-to-day activities of the position will vary depending on the type of event(s) being produced. The Events Director is responsible for all events inquiries including emails, calls and site tours. The Events Director will be the supervising liason with the chosen planner for the event. This position will also be involved in all activities including but not limited to managing the event department and employees, helping with the set-up and breakdown of all event space(s), menu planning with the kitchen, coordinating rental items, arranging entertainment and amenities, contacting service providers, creating and printing event menus and any other printed materials needed for an event, greeting event participants and invitees, handling correspondence, assisting other departments and projects as assigned and being present as required at events.

When working an event, the hours are varied according to the needs of the event, with weekend and evening work commonly required.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive event strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Lead and mentor a team of event planners and coordinators
  • Create and oversee event budgets, maximizing ROI while maintaining quality
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, venues, and service providers
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate innovative ideas into event planning
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ambitious, proactive, committed, motivated and passionate about our company and possess the ability to listen and a willingness to learn.
  • Flexible and willing to work outside normal business hours with limited overtime as needed and approved by Management, including nights and weekends.
  • Acts as the central liaison for all vendors, managing communications, contracts, timelines, and on-site coordination to ensure vendor deliverables align with event standards and expectations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
  • 7 years of experience in event planning and management, with a proven track record of successful large-scale events
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, managing teams and projects
  • Strong strategic planning and budget management skills
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities
  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to be self-motivated and achieve goals with minimal direct supervision.
  • In-depth knowledge of the New York event industry trends and best practices
  • Strong Communication and organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Team player with the ability to create and maintain close working relationships within the team and with other employees and departments.
  • Prior experience selling events at a hotel or restaurant.
  • Prior experience working with professional organizations that support luxury travel and events.
