Job Summary
Under the direction of the Principal, coordinate, assign, and perform the duties of more skilled work performed by Custodians and review the work quality of staff responsible for providing custodial cleaning at an assigned elementary school; ensure that school and district facilities are suitable for use by complying with cleanliness and safety requirements; conduct training and may participate in the more skilled worked performed by custodians.
Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: - Any combination equivalent to: a High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a custodial position with working leadership preferred. Licenses and other Requirements: - Valid California Driver’s License. - May require First Aid/ CPR Certification. - Hazardous Materials Awareness training within one (1) year of hire. Knowledge of: - Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial service, floor refinishing, and general maintenance. - Techniques and processes used in providing a complete system of custodial services on an institutional scale. - Effective time-management work practices. - Full range of equipment used in custodial work. - Chemical safety, use and handling, and documentation. - Work routines, hazards, and safety practices. - Basic report writing and record keeping skills. - Personal computer applications such as common office productivity software, e-mail, and work order systems. - Sufficient math skills to record and measure volumes and mixtures and prepare cost estimates. - Sufficient human relations skills to lead others, and work cooperatively with internal customers.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Function effectively indoors and outdoors engaged in work of a moderately active nature. - Cardiovascular fitness to engage in strenuous physical labor on an occasional basis. - Near visual acuity to write, to read directions and product labels, and to observe work in progress. - Hearing and speech for ordinary, telephonic, and 2-way radio communication, to hear sound prompts from equipment, and to determine if equipment is functioning properly. - Manual and finger dexterity to write and to clean and make minor repairs. - Lift, carry (max. 50 lbs.), push (max. 75 lbs.), pull, bend, squat, reach, and twist and turn head and trunk to clean and to remove trash, and move furniture and equipment. - Operate demanding equipment on an intermittent basis. - Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
