GENERAL
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Job Requirements
Ability to transport students to and from school over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions while ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition. Ensuring safety of students during transport as well as during loading and unloading from buses. Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures; laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to school bus operations and pupil transportation including appropriate Arizona State motor Vehicle Code and the education Code; safe driving principles and practices; bus routes/stops; and CPR and First Aid principles and practices. Ability is required to use basic, job related equipment as well as working with a wide diversity of individuals.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Language Skills
Knowledge is required to read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures, and the ability to read maps.
Mathematical Skills
Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios.
Computer Skills
Not applicable.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must meet requirements for First Aid and CPR. Arizona Commercial Driver’s License, Medical Certificate, Physical Performance Test and DPS Certification. Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and provide proof of Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccination or immunity. Must clear Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance.

GENERAL
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Adheres to proper dress code.
- Drives school’s buses for the purpose of transporting regular and/or special education students over scheduled routes to/from school and/or activity trips in a safe and timely manner.
- Attends meetings and any training deemed necessary by the Transportation Supervisor.
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior for the purpose of ensuring passenger safety.
- Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations for the purpose of resolving and/or recommending a resolution to the situation.
- Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior.
- Conducts emergency evacuation drills.
- Fuels assigned vehicles (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the vehicle in a safe operating condition.
- Informs other school personnel, parents, etc. of events and/or practices (e.g. scheduled stops, established routes, route conditions, etc.) for the purpose of advising them of issues that may require action.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Prepares documents and reports (e.g. activity trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support.
- Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of providing information to the proper personnel.
- Responds to inquiries (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit for the purpose or maintaining safety and following district policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
