Reports to: Principal – Middle School

 

 

Purpose Statement

  

This position is responsible for supporting the instructional process with specific responsibility for facilitating appropriate intervention strategies designed to increase student success and the likelihood that students will persist to graduation. Includes coordinating interventions and graduation strategies for students with at-risk indicators; improving the likelihood that students will graduate using appropriate interventions; analyzing intervention data; and providing
information to others.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assists or leads site Teacher Support Team (TST) expanding staff capacity to apply intervention techniques.
  • Coordinates site level at-risk interventions and initiatives (e.g. attendance interventions, dropout interventions, Missouri Options Program, Credit Recovery, tutoring program, In-School Suspension and detention, etc.) providing support to students at risk for dropout or failing to graduate.
  • Assists with student discipline for Top 25 Cohorts as directed by the building principal thus assisting the administrative team.
  • Assists teaching staff in implementing strategies for students with at-risk indicators providing appropriate support from multiple points of contact.
  • Collaborates with activity sponsors and coaches increasing student participation and engagement.
  • Collaborates with assistant principals in processes related to discipline of at-risk
    students ensuring the consistency of the expectations across administrative supports.
  • Collaborates with school counselors and CSIs for the purpose of developing and
    implementing support strategies.
  • Collaborates middle school staff to identify students entering High school with at-risk
    indicators proactively establishing relationships and increasing awareness.
  • Leads site participation in P2G conference increasing student engagement, motivation
    and graduation rate.
  • Maintains contact with parents of at-risk students continuing intervention strategies
    before and after the school day.
  • Monitors data relative to at-risk indicators for applicable students ensuring timely and effective intervention.
  • Supervises students as assigned during the school day and at extracurricular activities ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Works with appropriate outside agencies for the purpose of gathering and implementing community resources.
  • Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

  • Must have a Missouri Teaching Credential.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

  • Knowledge of perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; conflict resolution; standard business practices; program planning and development; concepts of grammar and punctuation; instructional procedures and practices; and concepts of management and supervision.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

 

  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.

 

Salary : $45,917 - $83,650
