Job Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for the collecting, testing and storing of blood. Maintains laboratory records. Uses, calibrates, maintain, and troubleshoots all laboratory equipment correctly. Documents all test results and other duties accurately. Organizes workload for efficient reporting within established turnaround times. The nature of this position requires incumbent to perform all essential functions of the Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA). Provides direct patient care to patients of all ages. Performs all job functions in accordance with Glen Rose Medical Center’s Policies and Procedures and Vision/Mission Statement. The Clinical Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Laboratory Director.
1. The minimum requirements of this position require the individual to:
· Must possess the ability and knowledge to work in all areas of the laboratory including but not limited to Microbiology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Clinical Chemistry, and Phlebotomy.
Maintains or is qualified to obtain a certification in MLS or MLT through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
One year laboratory experience preferred.
