General Responsibilities

• Read specifications and follow blueprints, sketches, and other instructions to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Unload and stack fabricated iron and steel so that it can be lifted with slings.
• Signal crane operators who lift and position structural reinforcing iron and steel.
• Set up hoisting equipment to safely position and unite steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks.
• Use shears, rod-bending machines, torches, hand tools, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld the structural and reinforcing iron and steel.
• Align structural and reinforcing iron and steel vertically and horizontally, using tag lines, plumb bobs, lasers, and levels and make corrections to erected structures as needed.
• Connect iron and steel with bolts, wire, or weld.
• Install metal decking used in building construction.
• Knowledge of rigging and load charts.

Requirements

• Follow safety guidelines.
• Good physical condition and endurance.
• Must be able to lift to 75lbs.
• Must have a current Welding Certificate.
• Other duties as needed.
• Pre-employment, post-offer drug screen and physical required.
