Pharmacist (Per Diem)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders. Detects any therapeutic incompatibilities. (50%)
2. Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging and labeling (5%)
3. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies, advises interventions when necessary. (5%)
4. Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technician’s workflow. Verifies their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, order entries, charges, and inspections. (15%)
5. Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals. Counsel’s patients on drug therapies. (15%)
6. Complies with federal and state drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration. (5%)
7. Maintains records for controlled substances. Removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory. (5%)

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES

1. Protect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
2. Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
3. Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops and conferences.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
2. Licensure: Current Michigan Pharmacist license, BLS Certification
3. Experience: Previous supervisory experience of Pharmacy staff, preferred. Strong familiarity with issues of compliance for state and federal regulations.
4. Skills: Computer skills. Knowledge of Pharmacy program literacy.  Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred).
5. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
6. Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and twist while holding up to 25 lbs. frequently.
7. Hours of Work: Full-time or Part-time; Flexible and varied as assigned.
8. Travel: Generally, it is not a requirement of this position. If needed, reimbursement in accordance with GLBHC travel policy.
