What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant position at Glaucoma Care Center?
We are a medical practice focused on treatment of eye conditions/glaucoma. The office is brand new located next to Fashion Island. Currently hiring for a an ophthalmic assistant position. No certification required but we will ask you to obtain COA or COT certificate within 1 year. Room to grow within the company and we will train to allow growth. The only requirement is being genuinely nice, upbeat and open to learning new skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Obtaining chief complaint and H&P from patients. Documenting in EMR (office ally) and performing basic eye exam components: checking vision and eye pressure. Obtaining OCT/HVF/Fundus photos images. Answering phones and scheduling appointments if necessary.
Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient’s arrival, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding providers of service delays.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Work Hours: open Mon through Friday 8-5 pm, no weekends or holidays. Can be a part-time position to start. Paid parking.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- University/college degree is an asset but not required.
