What are the responsibilities and job description for the First Shift Production Operator position at Glatt Air Techniques?
Accountability:
The role’s primary accountability is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the production process by following cGMP and meeting quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
Essential Job Function:
The Operator is responsible for operating production machinery, ensuring efficient and quality output, and maintaining safe work practices in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures, cGMPs and compliance to ensure the production of quality products.
This position is classified as “safety sensitive” and is subject to random drug testing.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in manufacturing or machinery operation is preferred.
· Must have two to four years’ experience, preferably in pharmaceutical operations.
· Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
· Must demonstrate mathematical skills, including the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, significant figures, and unit conversions.
· Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.
· Must be able to lift and manipulate materials up to 50kg.
· Must be receptive to Glatt’s equipment cross training approach to ensure operational efficiency.
· Must be comfortable with the daily usage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
· Must be able to work extended hours and weekend overtime as needed.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles or 5S practices preferred.
Responsibilities:
· Set-up, operation, and disassembly of the Glatt Fluidized Bed Processes, High Shear Granulators, and coating machines. Troubleshoots minor issues related to the equipment.
· Performs set-up and operation of the tablet compression and encapsulation machines in accordance with Batch Records and cGMP to ensure products meet applicable quality standards.
· Performs set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of the packaging line, weight checker, deduster, metal detector, and capsule counter.
· Utilizes problem-solving skills to investigate and troubleshoot product issues.
· Performs in-process testing related to tableting and encapsulation processes.
· Adequately performs and documents any required physical testing as directed by the Shift Supervisor, or Master Batch Record.
· Understands processing instructions and process flows of products to be able to anticipate upcoming tasks that may be required.
· Follows good documentation practices. Responsible for checking co-workers’ documentation and working as part of a team to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
· Cooperates with fellow employees and supervisor, especially with respect to working together safely and in accordance with cGMP to get the required work done.
· Reviews documentation through self-check. Ensures relevant information is completed as required during shift.
· Performs assigned training in a timely fashion.
· Alerts Supervisor or Area Management of any equipment, facility or procedural issue that requires repair or correction. Immediately communicates any deviations or problems to the Shift Supervisor.
· Follows all safety rules and procedures.
· Proactive with suggestions and takes pride in one’s work.
· Able to use the Enterprise Resource Planning system to track inventory of finished products or intermediates.
· Other tasks as assigned by Management.
