Traffic Control Technician

Glass Roots Construction is seeking an experienced Traffic Control Technician to oversee and support traffic control operations across Reno, NV. This leadership role is responsible for coordinating traffic control crews, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and providing hands-on support in the field. The Lead will play a key role in maintaining safe traffic flow, mentoring team members, and supporting construction operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise traffic control crews and serve as the on-site point of contact for traffic operations
• Plan, set up, and remove traffic control devices (signs, cones, barriers) according to project requirements
• Direct and maintain safe traffic flow using stop/slow paddles and clear communication
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal traffic control and safety regulations
• Conduct daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) briefings and enforce safety protocols
• Train, mentor, and guide traffic control team members in proper setup, signaling, and safety practices
• Coordinate with project managers, construction crews, and inspectors to support field operations
• Assist with general labor tasks as needed, including trenching, loading/unloading equipment, and site cleanup
• Maintain equipment, signage, and tools to ensure readiness and safe operation
  
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of traffic control or construction experience; leadership experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of MUTCD standards and traffic control best practices
• Ability to lead and communicate effectively with crews and management
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as required
  
  

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid driver’s license required (CDL A preferred)
• Valid Flagger Certification (ATSSA or state-recognized) - Must have
• Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification – required or obtainable
• Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Certification – required for supervisory roles

• Compensation range: $23 - $27 Hourly

The Pay Range For This Role Is:

23 - 27 USD per hour(Reno)
