What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Manager position at Glass Roots Construction, LLC?

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded by a team of well-funded career telecom and construction professionals. We look to leverage the latest technologies, best-in-industry equipment, and up-to-date construction and safety practices to build a first-class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US.

The Fleet Manager owns GRC’s fleet operations end to end. This role is responsible for knowing where every asset is, ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe and compliant, and partnering with our Fleet Maintenance partner and internal teams to keep costs, maintenance, and usage under control. The Fleet Manager will build the foundation for fleet management across all GRC markets and then maintain it, standardizing clear processes, reporting, and expectations for directors, drivers, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations and Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary internal liaison with our Fleet Maintenance partner n for ordering, leasing, vehicle maintenance, and day to day fleet issues.
  • Manage vehicle acquisition, leasing, registration, titling, and decommissioning across all markets.
  • Monitor fleet spend and work with Finance to track budgets, invoices, and control cost.

Asset Management and Tracking

  • Build and maintain a complete inventory of all fleet and fixed assets across all markets utilizing GRC’s asset tracking tools.
  • Own asset data accuracy and monthly reconciliation, holding market directors accountable for updates.
  • Track maintenance status and lifecycle of vehicles and equipment.

Safety, Compliance, and Driver Management

  • Partner with the Safety team to implement and maintain GRC’s fleet safety protocols, ensuring all drivers and vehicles meet regulatory compliance standards.
  • Oversee the management and integration of fleet assets, including Telematics devices or any specialized equipment in partnership with our Fleet Maintenance partner.
  • Manage fleet incident responses (accidents, violations, and tolls), oversee the documentation, follow-up, and provide notification to the Safety team to expedite insurance claims processing.

Systems, Reporting, and Process

  • Own the strategy and optimization of fleet and fixed assets within GRC’s asset tracking tools and also our Fleet Maintenance Partner’s platform, to enable visibility, control, and scalability.
  • Translate fleet data into actionable insights by developing forward-looking reporting on utilization, cost trends, risk, and capacity needs.
  • Design and implement standardized, scalable fleet processes for ordering, returns, and maintenance across all GRC markets.

Cross Functional Partnership and Continuous Improvement

  • Strategically partner with multiple teams including Procurement, Safety, Finance, Operations, and HR to align fleet planning directly with overall business goals.
  • Proactively identify systemic gaps, inefficiencies, and risk areas, to lead long-term solutions that improve performance, safety, and cost control.
  • Continue to elevate vendor partnerships c by driving accountability, performance benchmarks, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 2-3 or more years of experience in fleet management, fleet operations, or a closely related industry.
  • Understand vehicle maintenance and repair processes
  • Experience working with a third-party Fleet Maintenance company such as Holman or similar.
  • Background managing commercial vehicles in a construction, utilities, transportation, or field-based environment.

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with asset tracking systems such as Zoho and fleet maintenance platforms, such as Holman Insights.
  • Strong data skills, including the ability to build and interpret reports on assets, maintenance, and costs.
  • Comfortable working with budgets, invoices, and cost tracking in partnership with Finance.

  • Critical thinker focused on solving underlying issues aimed at implementing long-term operational and durable solutions
  • Strong project management skills and ability to drive work across multiple markets and stakeholders.

  • High attention to detail, strong follow through, and ability to work in a fast moving, high growth environment.

Employment Details

  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Location: Colorado - Teller County or Boulder/Denver metro preferred - Remote; occasional travel may be required (up to 5-10%)
  • Reporting to: Reshma Shrestha, Director Procurement
  • Compensation range: $75,000 - 85,000 10% bonus
  • Target start date: 2-3 weeks from offer
