POSITION SUMMARY:
This position works under a USDA/FDA regulated environment reporting to the QA Manager. They will be responsible for supporting the QA Manager in ensuring and managing the quality assurance of the plant’s food safety program. The environment is hot/cold, refrigerated, and production based. Responsible for enforcing and promoting food quality and safety. The position will provide support during inspections and audits by regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA), customers, and third-party agencies.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Inspections/Audits
- Accountable in enforcing HACCP and GMP policies and procedures to ensure the quality and safety of food products are inspected, stored, and maintained.
- Provide support in the development, planning, and maintenance of all food security documentation.
- Enforce quality control standards throughout the entire manufacturing facility.
- Supports preparation and completion of any audits and inspections.
Food Safety
- You will be responsible for enforcing and promoting food quality and safety by following HACCP, GMP, SQF, and other food safety, quality and prerequisite programs.
- Provides support during inspections and audits by regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, CDPH), customers, and third-party agencies (SQF).
- Ensure compliance with product specifications, labeling, and regulatory standards.
- Handle customer complaint investigations, resolution, and tracking.
- Maintain the internal facility audit process by completing daily and monthly facility walk-throughs.
- Work closely with the QA Manager to improve or develop sanitation process controls and perform corrective actions for any SSOP violations.

- Be familiar with building emergency preparedness plans.
- Report all unusual occurrences, i.e., instances involving personal injury, safety, property damage, fires, food safety issues, or significant operational disruption to your immediate supervisor.
- Interact with immediate supervisor by describing potential safety issues in performing your job and identifying responsibilities and required training as part of your development plan.
- Review, with supervisor, appropriate job-specific safety expectations and responsibilities relating to training and special procedures for safe operation of plant equipment.
Expectations (Specific):
- In performing your job, you will adhere to the Company’s, USDA, FDA, OSHA, local, state, and federal standards involving environmental safety and health issues. You must be familiar with policies and practices in your work area, including knowledge of emergency preparedness plans, use of personal protective equipment, and participation in relevant training programs specific to your activities and those where you provide guidance (if any).
- You are responsible for leading the food safety practices and procedures on equipment assigned to you and to manage periodic inspection, self-assessment, and corrective actions.
- You will provide day to day support on activities within your identified work area and equipment and assure that HACCP and practices relevant to those activities, such as General Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), are effectively implemented to protect the quality of food.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
- 2 years of progressive food safety experience within a manufacturing environment under HACCP, USDA, and FDA.
- Be able to handle high-volume production in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate leadership in the areas of food safety and quality assurance.
- Possess a can-do attitude and be able and willing to take direction.
- Ensure quality of food by keeping the work areas clean, organized and well-maintained.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Maintains work areas in a sanitized and orderly manner in compliance with our regulations.
- Ability to communicate with supervisor regarding work assignments/safety issues.
- Advanced training in food safety or related fields.
- Able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak basic English (bi-lingual in Spanish a plus).
- Knowledge of Food Safety Practices, Safety Programs, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs, work in confined spaces, and around plant equipment in hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach (must have manual dexterity in both hands); must use protective clothing, safety equipment and lift up to 40 lbs to chest height.
- Ability to distinguish color and use color codes.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments for over eight (8) hours in a day.
- Ability to work in a freezer environment for short durations of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
