Valid Kentucky Certification as Guidance Counselor
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents and school personnel.
Position Summary and Goal
To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth by providing services related to academic, social, vocational and personal development.

Performance Responsibilities
- Plans, implements and evaluates a developmental, preventative guidance program that enhances the school culture and academic focus.
- Provides a variety of counseling service options that may include individual, small group, and classroom guidance to promote student success in academic, career and personal/social development.
- Collaborates with administration and staff on the master schedule and the placement of students.
- Develops and implements orientation programs for the transition of students from elementary to middle and from middle to secondary school.
- Assists with the District’s compliance with federal, state, and local school mandates.
- Serves as the Building Assessment Coordinator, and facilitates state and district testing programs in the school.
- Directs the maintenance of the permanent record system and provides such records to schools and parents upon request.
- Oversees the registration and orientation of all new students; schedules all middle school students into appropriate classes and makes necessary schedule adjustments to meet individual needs.
- Consults with and provides information to parents and teachers regarding student progress.
- Provides for his/her own professional growth in accordance with state and federal regulation.
- Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel.
- Meets the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan.
- Adheres to the requirements of the District and school employee handbook, Glasgow Board of Education Policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Performs any other functions deemed necessary by the Principal that are reasonable and covered by local board policy or law.
