Technical Team Lead (Glanbia Nutritionals, Inc., Valencia, CA)
Plan, coordinate, and control activities related to the technical services of creation, applications, and delivery of samples of the territory served by the laboratory or laboratories. Assign technical projects within the technical team and follow up with them. Assign the appropriate resources as needed including technical training, sales support, or customer service. Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to communicate the status of technical projects to the sales and commercial group. Ensure sound management of team and departmental expenses according to the budget. Supervise the activities related to the selection and delivery of samples, if applicable depending on the region. Define the training needs of team in collaboration with the corporate technical director and follow the resulting development plans. Ensure the transfer of information concerning newly accepted formulations to operations. Respect the industry’s GMP (Good Hygiene Practices). Respect the policies / instructions of the company in connection with the quality system put in place (HACCP / SQF). Respect and participate in maintaining the company’s food safety values. Perform other related duties. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to Glanbia Nutritionals, Inc., 28350 Witherspoon Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91355. Domestic travel up to 25% to customers, other Glanbia locations, and trade shows. Salary: $150,000 - $170,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Flavor Science, Food Chemistry, Food Technology, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Food Chemist, Food Engineer, Food Scientist, or other occupation/position/job title involving food flavor science.
Must also have the following special skills: 5 years of professional experience planning, coordinating, and controlling activities related to the technical services of creation, applications, and delivery of samples in the food industry; 5 years of professional experience performing flavor matching for all flavor categories; 5 years of professional experience performing flavor modification including liquid, powder, emulsions, and encapsulations; 5 years of professional experience providing technical support including applications, technology, and manufacturing; and 5 years of professional experience communicating the status of technical projects to internal teams.
