QUALIFICATIONS:
Job Goal (General Description of the position): Assist the head swim coach.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meets all District requirements for employment.
- Follows District policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains harmonious working relationships with administration and staff.
- Possesses interpersonal skills to work positively with parents, staff and students.
- Possess a minimum education of a high school diploma
- Have or acquire a current lifeguard, first-aid, and CPR certification.
- Have or acquire ASEP certification.
Essential Functions (Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations):
- Assist in teaching swimmers the four competitive swimming strokes.
- Assist in teaching starts and turns as well as race tactics.
- Observe and correct errors; focuses on stroke development and stroke mechanics.
- Attend meets, supervise and motivate swimmers, assist in determining race strategy, direct warm-ups.
- Assist head coach in recording times for swimmers during meets.
- Attend to the emotional and mental well-being of swimmers. Build self-esteem and confidence of the team members and use good judgment in determining expectations and level of physical strain placed on swimmers.
- Take over head coaching responsibilities when the head coach is absent.
- Ensure the safety of the swim team members.
- Project a positive and professional image to parents and the public.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to all emergency situations.
