Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer / Drafter

Prudhoe Bay, Alaska | 2 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off Rotation

We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer/Drafter to support PLC upgrade and industrial controls projects on Alaska's North Slope. This role is ideal for someone with strong AutoCAD skills who enjoys working with electrical and instrumentation drawings, performing field verification, and supporting critical control system projects.

What You'll Be Doing

• Create, modify, and redline AutoCAD instrumentation and controls drawings
• Develop drawing packages for PLC upgrade and controls projects
• Manage engineering drawing revisions and document control processes
• Retrieve and update drawings within the document management system
• Perform field walkdowns, measurements, tie-in verification, and as-built documentation
• Review and incorporate engineering design changes
• Coordinate with warehouse and panel shop teams to ensure project materials are available when needed
• Conduct peer reviews and quality checks on drawings
• Communicate project progress, clarify technical details, and identify deviations from design standards
• Maintain high levels of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, or related field
• Familiarity with PLC architecture, I/O systems, and industrial control systems
• Experience supporting instrumentation, controls, or industrial automation projects
• Field verification, as-built, or drawing revision experience

Note: PLC programming experience is not required.

Work Location & Schedule

• Prudhoe Bay, Alaska
• 14 Days On / 14 Days Off rotational schedule
• Charter transportation provided between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay
