Journeyman Electrician (Montana) - Generator Installations

Glacier Power Solutions is hiring a Journeyman Electrician to join our generator installation team. This is a hands-on field position focused primarily on residential and light commercial standby generators, transfer switches, electrical service work, and related power systems.

We are looking for an experienced electrician who takes pride in clean, professional installations and can work effectively without constant supervision. Generator experience is preferred, but we will train the right electrician who has strong residential and service-work fundamentals.

What You’ll Do

• Install residential and light commercial standby generators
• Install automatic transfer switches, load-management equipment, disconnects, and electrical panels
• Perform service upgrades and modifications required for generator installations
• Run conduit, feeders, control wiring, and branch circuits
• Complete electrical troubleshooting, startup testing, and system commissioning
• Coordinate with installation crews, gas technicians, utilities, inspectors, and customers
• Review job plans and identify installation issues before they become problems
• Maintain clean, organized, and code-compliant jobsites
• Explain basic generator operation to customers after installation
• Assist with occasional inverter, battery-storage, or solar projects
• Complete job documentation and communicate clearly with the office team

What We’re Looking For

• Current Montana Journeyman Electrician license, or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code
• Experience with residential services, panels, feeders, and transfer equipment
• Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Professional communication and customer-service skills
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to work outdoors and lift or move typical electrical equipment and materials
• Willingness to travel throughout Western Montana, including occasional overnight work

Generator installation or service experience with Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton, Winco or similar equipment is an advantage but is not required.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Work is scheduled Monday through Thursday (4 x 10 hour days), longer installation days and occasional overnight travel may be required. Overtime may be available depending on workload and seasonal demand.
