What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guest Services Supervisor position at Glacier Ice Rink?
The Guest Services Supervisor oversees the front-line operations of the skate shop (admissions desk), skate guards and concessions. This position works closely with the Operations Manager to make sure all staff are providing a safe, enjoyable experience for Glacier Ice Rink guests through the delivery of exceptional customer service.
This seasonal (August-May) position, averaging 20-30 hours per week, primarily weekends, evenings and holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees and performs daily operations of the skate shop, including admission process, cash register operation, skate rental distribution/collection and supervision of activities.
- Ensures proper execution of public programs, user group rentals, birthday parties and private rentals based on standards set by management.
- Work with the Operations Manager to create & cultivate a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Train & supervise seasonal rink attendants and skate guards to enforce all rink polices in a friendly & professional manner.
- Monitor staff productivity and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and support.
- Understands and is able to explain all of Glacier Ice Rinks programs and policies.
- Handles customer complaints and/or difficult situations in person or over the phone.
- Monitors the ice & surrounding areas to ensure a safe & fun environment for all.
- Responds to emergency situations and assists in skaters in distress.
- Be able to effectively communicate with guests, staff and management. Making sure to document and report any noteworthy events.
- At times this position may need to inventory, order and/or get items for skate shop & concessions operations.
- Sharpens rental skates and patrons’ skates and trains staff on process.
- Ensures the overall cleanliness of Glacier Ice rink and surround area.
- Acts as Manager on duty in the absence of the Operations Manager.
- Must be able to performs additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or above.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with standard computer programs and cash register operations.
- Confident ice skating ability and/or interest in skating/hockey preferred.
- Current first aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Employment is contingent upon completing background check and SafeSport training through USA Hockey.
- Must be able work for extended periods of time in a cold & loud work environment. Average temperature in the rink is between 40-50 degrees and the noise level can become very loud at unpredictable times
