Position Overview

The Collector 1 participates in maintaining a financially sound loan portfolio through early delinquency control. Methods to accomplish this include, but are not limited to: phone calls, collection letters, and in-person interviews. This individual recommends further action on accounts as deemed necessary which may include, but is not limited to repossession, legal action, foreclosure or referral to a collection agency. This is not a remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control, and must know the Wisconsin Consumer Act

· Take incoming credit inquiries from members and provides lending solutions that are optimal to meeting their credit needs

· Establish and maintain efficient working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and members

· Contact members to discuss the circumstances of their delinquency. Discuss repayment options, suggest availability of financial counseling and inform them of potential legal action.

· Maintain records and prepare reports on actions taken to resolve delinquency. Accept payments and issue receipts for delinquent and charged off loans.

· Work with debt relief companies to restructure credit and repayment terms to better secure collateral, attain equity position, or establish recourse to other borrower assets until the borrower is not in a collection status

· Upon receiving appropriate approval, arrange for repossession of collateral. The Collector I is responsible for the marketing and liquidation of repossessions.

· Process notices and reports as necessary for member notification

· Assist Collections Manager with day-to-day operations

· Perform other related duties as assigned and requested. The Credit Union reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Minimum Requirements

· Proficient computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other computer programs

· Effective communication skills, including the ability to present information and respond to questions effectively before groups of employees or members of the Credit Union

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, percentages, rates, ratio, and yields

· Ability to be bonded

· Collection experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 42.0 per week
