Maintenance Lead – Aberdeen, SD

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Lead supports the daily operations of the Maintenance Department by overseeing maintenance personnel, coordinating workflow, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards. This role is responsible for assigning tasks, monitoring progress, inspecting completed work, and maintaining accurate documentation. Employment is contingent upon successfully meeting all pre-employment requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support maintenance team members in daily activities
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work orders
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Promote and enforce safety procedures and standards
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues
Education & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Training within a manufacturing/production maintenance environment preferred
- Prior experience leading or supervising maintenance personnel required; 3–5 years of leadership experience highly preferred
- Working knowledge of maintenance procedures for centrifuges, drying equipment, boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, valves, electrical circuits, and 4–20 milliamp instrumentation
- Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations required
- Ability to communicate clearly in English
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This position involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, high noise levels, varying temperatures, and chemicals. The role requires:
- Working in confined spaces on occasion
- Climbing stairs and ladders up to 175 feet
- Lifting up to 60 pounds, occasionally exceeding 50 pounds
- Bending, twisting, and lifting during physical tasks
- Walking up to one mile per day
- Performing tasks such as opening valves and using tools (e.g., brooms, shovels)
- Working at heights and in variable environmental conditions
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from -20°F to 100°F
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Extended periods of seated data entry (over one hour)
