Now Hiring: Maintenance Instrumentation & Electrical Technician
📍 Mina, South Dakota
Glacial Lakes Energy (GLE) – a leader in the corn ethanol industry – is seeking a Maintenance Instrumentation & Electrical Technician to join our team in Mina, SD.
This hands-on role is responsible for the preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of process and utility equipment, electrical systems, and plant infrastructure. With a focus on electrical systems, this position serves as the go-to expert for all electrical and instrumentation needs.
Employment for this position is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment requirements.
🔧 Essential Job Functions
Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and calibration on equipment such as pumps, valves, tanks, vessels, electrical systems, and utility equipment
Serve as the lead resource for electrical and instrumentation-related tasks
Maintain and troubleshoot 4–20 mA instrumentation and electrical circuits
Work with maintenance and production teams to reduce downtime and increase plant efficiency
Accurately communicate work progress and equipment issues to the Maintenance Lead/Manager
Support continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving initiatives
Follow and promote all safety procedures and report any concerns immediately
Maintain clean and safe work areas including buildings and grounds
Deliver exceptional internal customer service across all departments
Document maintenance work and equipment changes using digital systems
Dependably report to work on time and complete work thoroughly and accurately
Other duties as assigned
🎓 Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree (AAS) in Electrical, Engineering Technology, Building Trades, HVAC, or similar field preferred
2–3 years of hands-on maintenance experience required; ethanol or related industrial experience preferred
Working knowledge of electrical circuits, pumps, valves, PLCs, and 4–20 mA instrumentation required
Current Electrical License preferred
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, HART communication protocols, and PLC programming
Understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations
Clear, professional communication in English required
⚙️ Physical Requirements
Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and occasionally more
Regularly climb stairs and ladders up to 175 feet
Capable of working in dusty, loud, and variable temperature environments (-20°F to 100°F)
Perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling
Walk up to 1 mile per day; stand for extended periods
Perform data entry tasks for one hour or more
