Reports To: Commodities Manager
Location: Mina, SD
Hours/Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Monday – Friday)
Wage: $22.00/hour
Summary:
This internship provides practical, hands-on experience relevant to the field of study prior to college graduation. Interns will interact with multiple functional teams and gain exposure to a variety of responsibilities to develop new skills and broaden understanding of the business.
Job Duties & Learning Opportunities:
Learn grain marketing and crush margin management fundamentals.
Understand the quality and quantity of inventories used for production.
Support the Commodities Manager and Operations team by tracking inventory and completing position reports.
Gain experience preparing and supplying reports to marketers and management.
Learn to understand and initiate various contracting tools established by GLE, including basis contracts, flat price contracts, HTAs, and minimum price contracts.
Develop knowledge of regional and market grain prices.
Coordinate daily activities with sales, grain merchandising, and grain receiving teams.
Enter contracts accurately, completely, and timely into the AGRIS system.
Assist with reconciling transactions and tracking commodity activity.
Support production and storage planning by reviewing commodity sales and purchase requirements.
Participate in logistics activities and assist with preparation of bills of lading for rail cars.
Utilize AGRIS reports to assist with contracts and related documentation.
Learn to process payments, checks, statements, and invoices.
Gain hands-on experience weighing incoming and outgoing distillers and other trucks.
Learn to read and interpret market screens and daily market quotes.
Participate in blending grain to specification, overseeing truck loading/unloading, grain grading, and rail load-out for DDGs and ethanol.
Assist with proper grading of grains and commercial-level grain blending.
Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.
