Seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support procurement operations and vendor management activities.
This role is responsible for sourcing quality materials and services at competitive pricing while maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring continuity of supply. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, along with the ability to evaluate market conditions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain productive relationships with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of raw materials, finished goods, operational supplies, and marketing materials
- Create and process purchase orders while verifying pricing, specifications, and delivery requirements
- Address shipment discrepancies, invoicing issues, and pricing concerns with suppliers in a timely manner
- Receive and document miscellaneous purchases within the company ERP system and coordinate with Accounts Payable as needed
- Maintain organized procurement records and supporting documentation
- Assess supplier performance based on pricing, quality, service levels, and availability
- Identify and qualify alternate suppliers to reduce supply risk and improve pricing opportunities
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to support company objectives and cost efficiencies
- Review purchasing requests and recommend cost-effective alternatives when appropriate
- Coordinate delivery schedules and resolve logistics or shipping-related issues with vendors
- Monitor raw material usage and purchasing trends to optimize inventory levels and maximize volume discounts
- Assist in establishing lead times and procurement planning for production materials and operational supplies
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or vendor management
- Proven ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements
- Strong understanding of sourcing practices, market analysis, and procurement procedures
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other basic business software
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- Advanced degree considered a plus
