2nd or 3rd shift option.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requires a general knowledge of maintenance and repair functions, applied techniques in electrical/electronic and mechanical maintenance and repair, generally acquired in 2-3 years of progressive job instruction and shop experience to become familiar with materials, techniques, and procedures.
- Good organizational skills are needed to maintain work area and set priorities according to daily production requirements. Good communication skills are needed to effectively train lower skilled personnel and maintain information flow to supervision and across shifts.
- Consistently demonstrates a safe working environment
- Willingness to pursue additional training and education related to this function.
ESSENTIAL Functions:
- Dismantle and inspect parts, rebuild and overhaul complete machines and troublesome machine components, such as gear boxes, feeding and adjusting mechanisms, bushings, sleeves, etc. Service and maintain overhead cranes, and hoists, power and miscellaneous material handling equipment. Maintain and repair plant systems to include plumbing, heating and air conditioning, ventilating and exhaust equipment, compressors, etc. Perform skilled fitting of bearings, spindles, ways, etc. and align machine components.
- Perform electrical repairs to machines and equipment. Diagnose electrical/electronic malfunctions, troubleshoot microprocessors and recommend corrective actions to Lead, and design circuitry as required.
- Work from complicated drawings, plans, sketches and layouts. Use precision measuring instruments such as scale, calipers, dividers, level, micrometers, etc. Instruct and guide employees in lower skill classifications in a variety of maintenance assignments.
- Diagnose, isolate and correct troubles to involve repair and replacements of controls, motors, switches, devices and gears, re-routing of circuits and distribution centers to balance loads.
- Completed major assignments usually subject to inspection and check
- Assist maintenance technician of higher skill classification as directed
OTHER Functions:
- Assist with training lower skilled personnel
- Maintain work area in clean, orderly manner.
- Transfer and receive production information at shift changes.
- Perform other tasks or duties as may be assigned.
FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School or equivalent education
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Excellent coordination, repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation to perform mechanical repairs and assemblies. The ability to lift at least 50 lbs and 75 lbs – 100 lbs occasionally; good upper body strength and ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, crawl, kneel and climb for performing mechanical adjustments and equipment maintenance. Good vision and depth perception.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a factory environment under somewhat disagreeable conditions. Exposed to dust and dirt, powder metal particles, high noise levels, coolants or lubricating solutions, moving machinery, heat and electrical power. Personal protective equipment is required when in production areas. Also exposed to repetitive use of fingers, hands and arms.
