Duties
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, brushing, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and styling tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs safely and compassionately, utilizing animal restraint techniques to ensure a stress-free grooming experience
- Assess each pet’s health and behavior, recognizing signs that may require veterinary attention or special care
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools are sanitized and equipment is in excellent working order
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating with pet owners about grooming preferences, pet health concerns, and aftercare instructions
- Assist with pet handling during grooming procedures, ensuring safety for both animals and staff
- Support additional animal care duties such as pet sitting or kennel duties when needed to ensure comprehensive pet well-being
Skills
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of breed-specific cuts and styles
- Knowledge of dog handling techniques and animal restraint methods to ensure safety during grooming sessions
- Background in veterinary experience or veterinary technician/assistant roles is highly desirable for recognizing health issues
- Familiarity with animal handling, pet care, and animal restraint practices across various species including dogs and horses (equine experience is a plus)
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for handling larger dogs or equipment setup
- Strong attention to detail combined with a lively, positive attitude that fosters trust and comfort in pets and clients alike
