Schedule: On-call, Monday-Thursday, 2:00pm-6:00pm
Job Title: TEACH Coordinator Substitute Tutor
Supervisor: Program Director
Job Summary
The role of the TEACH Coordinator Substitute is to provide tutoring sessions for K-12 grade students to support academic growth and educational success. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to providing homework support, preparing students for tests and creating personalized lesson plans tailored to address specific academic challenges. TEACH Coordinator Substitutes work directly with students to assess their individual needs, understand their learning styles, identify effective tutoring strategies and customize sessions to support progress. A passion for education and the ability to connect and understand children are essential qualities for this role, as they help foster students’ growth, confidence, and academic success.
Skills Needed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate students
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
- Competent in Common Core Math, Pre-Algebra and Language Arts
- Knowledge in advanced mathematical concepts- a minimum of (1) of the following subjects: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics
- Classroom management skills to maintain a productive learning environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Apps such as Word, Excel, OneDrive, etc
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in various subjects
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to engage students and enhance learning
- Assist students with homework assignments, test preparation, and study skills
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student confidence and motivation
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements
Required Credentials
- Receive Department of Justice background clearance
- Negative TB within past 4 years
- High School Diploma or GED
- Passing of the proficiency test or 48 college credits. The proficiency test will be scheduled and administered in the main office prior to the initial onboarding process
- Keenan Training Courses
Preferred Credentials
- Experience and/or training in a closely related employment position preferred
- Familiarity with lesson planning and curriculum development.
- Special education or early childhood education experience is a plus.
- Bilingual a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 16 per week
