Social Media Manager

Girls Who Code
New York, NY Remote Full Time
POSTED ON 11/8/2024 CLOSED ON 1/5/2025

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Manager position at Girls Who Code?

Moms First is a national nonprofit leading the fight for America’s moms. We are driven by our belief that motherhood is the unfinished business of gender equality. Founded by Reshma Saujani in 2021 at the height of the pandemic, our community of moms and supporters is 1.1 million strong and committed to fighting for a world where moms are valued and supported in our workplaces, communities, and culture.

Moms First is seeking a Social Media manager to expand our organic reach through innovative social content and campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this newly created role will be responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive, best-in-class social strategy across all channels, managing daily posts and engagement with our community, and using analytics tools to report on and optimize our content.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of experience managing professional social media accounts for brands, causes, or influencers. You are “chronically online” and the first to adopt new trends and technology.  You are an excellent writer with experience adopting a brand voice for an executive and/or organization. You passionately believe that social media can be used as a megaphone for good. Above all, you are eager to deliver engaging, informative content to our moms and allies that empowers them to take action in their communities.

The Moms First team is remote, with a hybrid work option for New York City based team members. This role may be performed virtually, however we prefer candidates based in the NYC-metro area. If remote, candidates must be willing to travel and be based near a major airport with direct flights to NY, DC, and LA.

Moms First is committed to creating and maintaining a workplace environment that allows employees to be engaged, productive and successful. When we say we “put moms first,” this means we believe that moms should be supported and able to put their needs first; this value extends to our own colleagues and means that we expect and encourage one another to prioritize our health and well-being, as well as our families, whether it’s a midday therapy session, a doctor’s appointment, or school pick up and drop off.

We offer policies and programs that encourage balance and support health and well-being, and we are always looking for new ways to maintain a culture where our people excel and lead healthy, happy lives.
