At the heart of GLOW Academy is a focus on “whole girl” education. We seek to foster the growth of leadership and confidence in our students and build and sustain family support, all while engaging all of our students in a rigorous college preparatory program. This means that GLOW emphasizes the following areas to ensure that each girl has a successful 6-12 experience and continues on to college: leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness and expanded opportunities in science, technology, math and the arts.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching the North Carolina State Standards for High School Science, and feels competent to teach in a diverse and ever-changing learning environment. High school courses may include Earth and Environmental, Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science. We are looking for teachers who understand that learning is a lifelong endeavor and who wish to continue to grow and learn as teachers, taking risks, and refining their teaching for the benefit of the students we serve.
POSITION DETAILS: Full-Time, 10-Month (August-May)
POSITION: High School Science Teacher
AVAILABLE: August 3, 2026
REPORTS TO: Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CERTIFICATION: NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades
- EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to teach high school and/or grades 6-12 with a passion for and competency in the appropriate subject area; experience in teaching high school Science
- ENVIRONMENT: Demonstrated ability to build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implement positive behavior practices, and build strong relationships with students and families to support student success
- CURRICULUM: Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study
- WHOLE GIRL: Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities.
SALARY: NC Educators step pay scale, including honoring:
- Local supplement (New Hanover County Schools)
- 10% for a related master's degree
- 12% for current National Board Certification
