We work in the community, schools in Arlington, Fort Worth, Crowley and throughout the metroplex to deliver our evidence based comprehensive programs. The Girls Inc. national network serves over 140,000 girls through 76 affiliates. Girls Inc. of Tarrant County (GITC) is the local affiliate serving over 3,000 girls annually in Tarrant County.
Position Summary
The intern on the program team assists staff in delivering high quality programming to girls in Tarrant County Schools. As per Girls Inc. mission, inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. The intern will gain experience in group facilitation with diverse populations, program planning, program implementation and evaluation, data entry, record keeping, networking with community partners and non-profit organizations, and interpersonal and time management skills. This is a part time, unpaid internship.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Programming
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires the ability to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment, and the physical ability to perform light lifting. Work is typically performed in an office, in the community, or classroom setting, and may involve standing, stooping, bending, and walking. However, the agency will make accommodations when necessary. This person may be required to travel to various locations throughout Tarrant County. Generally, the working conditions have little or no exposure to extremes in safety hazards or hazardous materials.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Programming
- Co-facilitating creative and experiential sessions in accordance with GITC standards, maintaining appropriate staff-student ratios
- Assisting staff with creating and maintaining a safe student-centered learning environment that includes classroom management
- Other programming duties as assigned
- Assist with maintaining accurate and confidential participant records
- Assist with participant data entry tasks
- Participate in self-assessment, developing professional goals and objectives
- Attend staff meetings, town halls, and meetings
- Participate in all required reporting and deadlines at the organizational level, including but not limited to those related to expense management, mileage, and grant requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in progress (education, child development, or related field preferred)
- Experience or willingness to work with individuals of diverse populations
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with program participants, parents/guardians, and professionals
- Strong emotional intelligence with a passion for working with diverse groups, good judgement, and professional behavior
- Regular, punctual attendance and attention to all responsibilities
- Confidentiality in dealing with participant and organizational information
- Ability to follow directions, guidelines, and policies/procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant technology (Google Docs, Canva, and Adobe)
