MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT, Part-Time- Camp Whip Poor Will (Morrow, OH)

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep of our beautiful Camp Whip Poor Will property located in Morrow, Ohio! This role will provide regular property maintenance that includes landscaping and groundskeeping, clearing trails, and maintenance of roads and equipment. This position will also perform basic plumbing, light construction, mechanical and electrical work, conduct safety inspections and general cleaning and janitorial care. A great candidate will bring prior experience in janitorial and maintenance work including general cleaning, response to maintenance requests and groundskeeping and customer service to ensure our campus is safe, clean and welcoming. This part-time position is year-round and offers up to 19 hours per week Monday – Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide maintenance assistant to the property including general cleaning, equipment repair, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, landscaping and groundskeeping.
  • Perform routine cleaning of common areas, restrooms, cabins and program spaces.
  • Support equipment upkeep including inspection, minor repair and safe storage.
  • Maintain campgrounds through mowing, trimming, leaf removal and general landscaping.
  • Assist with seasonal property needs (snow removal, pool opening/closing, trail upkeep).
  • Monitor property for safety hazards, promptly report issues and fix any issues.
  • Work in a manner to ensure personal safety and safety of others.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years’ work experience in facility maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in light construction, plumbing, electricity, facility maintenance, equipment operation maintenance and storage and grounds maintenance.
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of grounds keeping equipment: mowing equipment, snow removal equipment, trimmers, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the organization’s goals.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational and time management skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a year-round part-time position with a regular schedule of up to 19 hours per week. Non-traditional work hours will be included. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected to support another GSWO property.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly; bend, stoop, reach, and sit for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to perform a variety of physical activities, including but not limited to moving furniture/appliances, loading site materials, manual excavation, and climbing ladders, for facility maintenance, and work in outdoor seasonal heat and cold. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
