Join us as a Summer Camp Nurse (weekly and weekend positions available) for an enriching and fulfilling opportunity to positively impact young campers' lives. The Camp Nurse role involves reviewing camper medical histories/forms prior to their arrival, communicating with parents regarding any questions, assisting with camper check-in on opening day, and maintaining a continuous presence near the health center, offering round-the-clock availability to respond to emergencies. This position entails upholding the general health and safety standards for all campers and personnel, as well as overseeing the daily administration of medications.
What else should I know about the position?
- Between campers attend each session of overnight camp at Camp Natarswi.
- We offer 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-week programs for our campers.
- The Natarswi summer team consists of staff members.
Weekly nurse positions are available from Sunday at 9:00 a.m. to Saturday at 10 a.m.
- Week 1: July 5-11
- Week 2: July 12-18
- Week 3: July 19-July25
- Week 4: July 26-August 1
Weekend Nurse positions available from Saturday to Sunday:
- July 5 (one day)
- July 11-12
- July 18-19
- July 25-26
- August 1-2

Requirements:
- Current R.N. Maine license or the ability to obtain prior to start date
- Be an enthusiastic, caring adult who is passionate about working with campers.
- Belief in the mission and core principles of Girl Scouting
- Passion and excitement for the outdoors.
- Ability to prioritize the needs of campers and to communicate with and provide direction to campers of varying age and skill levels.
- Ability to help campers navigate emotional well-being during their time at overnight camp.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain boundaries with campers and fellow staff.
- Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, integrity.
- Ability to go without electronic devices for several hours or days at a time while on duty (excluding medically necessary devices).
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under GSME's insurance.
Physical requirements:
Ability and willingness to perform tasks that exert physical effort, which may involve bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 40 pounds). Regular standing and prolonged periods of walking on rough and uneven terrain at camp is required as is working in the heat, sun exposure, and other weather conditions.
