Community Engagement Coordinator - Wausau, WI and surrounding areas

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a field-based recruiter and brand ambassador for Girl Scouts, responsible for outreach and lead generation in assigned communities. With a primary focus on recruiting new girl and adult members, this position builds community visibility through school visits, event participation, and partnership cultivation. Coordinators are expected to implement assigned recruitment strategies, meet specific lead and conversion quotas, and track and report on all engagements. Coordinators should be highly motivated to grow membership while establishing relationships with volunteers and service areas to strengthen our community visibility.

* This position serves Wausau, WI, and the surrounding areas. Most work will take place within 30 miles of Wausau, WI, but will include occasional regional travel within 1.5 hours of Wausau, WI.*

Key Responsibilities 
• Manage a portfolio of assigned recruitment regions/service areas, including schools, faith-based organizations, non-profits, and community partners, building strong relationships to share the Girl Scout impact and support recruitment efforts. 
• Identify and participate in community events, festivals, school activities, and presentations that offer opportunities for visibility with a priority on lead generation.
• Deliver engaging, mission-driven presentations to girls, parents, educators, and community leaders.
• Initiate and support the formation of new troops by inspiring and recruiting volunteers, filling key roles, and establishing troop structures.
• Accurately enter all outreach and lead data into CRM systems, nurture leads for conversion, and track ROI. 
• Promote the Girl Scout experience in underserved and culturally diverse neighborhoods.
• Collaborate with other coordinators on shared recruitment opportunities and strategies.
• Maintain flexible hours, including regular evenings and weekends.

• Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, customer relationship management systems, and social networking.

• Project Management - formulates short- and long-term project goals, objectives, schedules, and priorities in line with council goals; anticipates issues, obstacles, or opportunities that may impact plans or actions; ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines; establishes courses of action for accomplishing goals while attending to and incorporating information obtained during day-to-day tasks.

• Judgment and Decision-Making - recognizes when immediate action is required; makes decisions where appropriate or refers decisions to the appropriate organizational level; makes decisions without undue delay. Sales Ambition and Drive – understands sales and management of leads. A self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently with minimal oversight. 

• Marketing Knowledge – demonstrates knowledge of marketing (for example, market identification and segmentation, interpretation and use of market data), comfort in presenting the value behind solutions in a way that resonates with what is most important to the potential members/customers of the organization. 
• Team-Building - knows team-building techniques and processes; collaborates with others to create optimal solutions; fosters a commitment to a team approach to work; promotes partnerships between teams; collaboratively defines boundaries and outcomes of work responsibilities; shares information with others; shares decision-making responsibility with team members. 
 
Qualifications 
• Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 1–2 years in sales, outreach, canvassing, or youth programming preferred.
• Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
• Strong ability to set goals, manage metric-driven strategies, and achieve results.
• Excellent relationship-building, public speaking, and presentation skills. 
• Strong organizational habits and self-motivation.
• Willingness to work in schools, outdoors, and community spaces. 
• Flexible schedule with regular evening and weekend commitments.

• Strong understanding of or willingness to learn the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
• Must be (or become) a registered Girl Scout member.
• Frequent regional travel with occasional overnight requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and stand for long periods during events.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a willingness to travel regularly throughout our council.

Paid time off is available for all GSNWGL staff working more than 20 hours per week, and our offices are closed on major holidays and between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.
