POSITION SUMMARY:
Formulates strategic and tactical marketing and public relations plans though storytelling, to meet objectives and policies of the council. Supports the Marketing and Communications team in building multi-media campaigns for programs, philanthropy, and membership to drive revenue. Generates consistent exposure for Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland through targeted messaging on in all channels to support the overall story of why Girl Scouts is an important organization in every community we serve.
SKILLS:
- Proven track record in marketing, planning and strategic communications.
- Ability to organize, guide, motivate, inspire, train, and lead staff.
- Knowledge of concept, go-to-market strategy, planning in print production, social media, digital communication, graphic design, photography, project workflow management (experience in Asana is a plus), and budgeting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset to connect with a diverse constituency base.
- Experience in reporting performance through analytics and summary reporting metrics, including perfomance of web and social media channeling to determine ROI and make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to work towards a 1- 3 year strategic plan from a budgeting and overall brand messaging perspective.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to produce clear, concise presentations and written materials for a variety of applications and audiences.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develops, monitors and revises a strategic marketing plan that advances an accurate and informed portrayal of the council and its mission to internal and external audiences.
- Creates effective, consistent, and brand focused storytelling within marketing channels and across campaign initiatives.
- Manages the implementation of the marketing plan, campaigns, and initiatives in alignment with GSUSA national plans and as identified in the department annual plan of work.
- Develops, supports planning and execution of social and digital plans as a supplement to overall marketing strategy.
- Manages the production of all council communication materials including the council annual report, newsletters, brochures, posters, signage, etc.; delegates projects to other departmental staff and volunteers; hires and manages agencies and other external vendors in activities related to writing, designing, and printing materials as needed.
- Manages Marketing Team in accordance with council policies, procedures and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring and training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising and managing performance; addressing and resolving personnel issues. Marketing team includes Graphic Designer and Web Lead, Marketing Manager, and Writer/Social Content Coordinator.
- Manages the planning and implementation of the council’s media relations strategy, including cultivation of relationships with local media personell in print, radio, and TV.
- Coordinates and oversees the council website, social media channels, email newsletters, and
- Monitors and measures the effectiveness of the organization’s marketing and public relations efforts; evaluates the council’s communication materials and gauges public perception of the organization through social media reports, web and overall performance analytics.
- Ensures the council has the communication infrastructure in place to effectively respond to a crisis. Serves as Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland primary spokesperson.
- Develops and manages the departmental budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sound financial management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism or related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in a public relations/communications role. Five years supervisory experience required.
- Not-for-profit experience a plus.
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
SALARY: $70k-$75k
