What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, STEAM Partnerships position at Girl Scouts of Northern California?

The Coordinator, STEAM Partnerships will:
  • Provide support to the Senior Director, STEAM Partnerships & Development for various STEAM partnerships that offer relevant Girl Scout experiential hands-on badge content and fun-with-purpose program opportunities for our K-12 troop youth members, individually registered girls, and family members
  • Assist with identifying and maintaining new STEAM partnerships with local community organizations, university groups, museums, businesses, community-service partners, partners providing ticket rebates, as well as community and special organization volunteers
  • Support the development of various STEAM programs or activities with other department team members to support the council’s current strategic priorities and mission, increase membership growth and create financial stability
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to fulfill partner program promotions and communication requirements for partner-run programming such as Girl Scout Nights / Days and partner-run programs that are highlighted on our partner web page and in our annual program guide
  • Help guide and provide support to our STEAM partners in cultivating contemporary Girl Scout badge programming for girls that employ the council’s commitment to serving our youth members and meeting all organizational standards
  • Coordinate and attend various evening or weekend events such as Girl Scout Nights / Days with sports & athletic teams, university badge day programs, and special council events for current and new members that spotlight STEAM
  • Co-create and present training materials and resources to troop leaders and STEM volunteers to help increase badges earned by troops in topics such as robotics, coding, stem career and environmental science

Essential Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hands-on experience with youth programs or employment within a youth serving organization
  • Ability to work from home, as needed, to include high speed home internet access
  • Valid California Driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, proof of insurance
  • Basic knowledge with cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Forms and PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms and Slides)
  • Able to pass Girl Scouts of Northern California’s background screening process (including fingerprinting, criminal education, social security, and Department of Motor Vehicle verification).
Remote work and/or office expectations:
This position requires working in the field throughout the Bay Area, attending event and weekend partner events, purchasing and preparing event materials in and out of the office, as well as attending occasional department meetings and training
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with various STEAM youth curriculum and programs including VEX or FIRST robotics, youth coding programs and clubs, and engineering and environmental education programs for youth
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree - or - two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education
  • Strong interest in understanding and creating safe spaces that empower our youth members (K-12)
  • Experience managing, coordinating, or executing events for large groups of 100 attendees
  • Success in working with diverse communities
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout mission and programs
    • Bilingual in Spanish, or other language, and English
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. (boxes, materials, equipment)
