Position Summary

The Outdoor Program Coordinator supports the successful delivery of council-led outdoor programs by supporting logistics, preparing equipment, and assisting/leading on-site programming. This role provides essential administrative and operational support, helping ensure activities are well-staffed, organized, and executed safely. Working under the direction of the Outdoor Experiences Manager, the Coordinator prepares materials, assists with the scheduling, guidance, and training of seasonal outdoor staff, and serves as a key point of contact during program events. This role is highly task-oriented and customer-focused, supporting essential administrative duties, including communication with program participants, caregivers/volunteers, and planning support for upcoming events and activities.

 

Status: Part-Time, Up to 30 Hours Weekly

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the scheduling, communications and delivery of outdoor programs across council and partner sites.
  • Lead and assist on-site programming including high-ropes adventure and other outdoor programs – this includes occasional overnight leadership and supervision of Girl Scout members.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment and supply inventory; prepare readiness checklists and activity kits.
  • Support seasonal staff onboarding by organizing training materials and logistics.
  • Confirm weekly schedules and communicate assignments to staff and volunteers.
  • Act as on-site support for staff and program participants.
  • Conduct basic safety inspections and report issues to the Manager.
  • Track program participation, incidents, and equipment usage through logs and reports.
  • Provide positive and professional customer service to all program participants and stakeholders, including staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with administrative program planning tasks, including documentation, registration, and communications with staff and registered program participants.
  • Helps support overall Mission Delivery objectives as needed during non-peak outdoor season.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • 2 years experience in youth programming, recreation, or logistics in a nonprofit or customer-facing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage checklists, timelines, and competing priorities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain necessary certifications to lead and support any and all council-approved high-adventure activities (e.g., archery, ropes, or watercraft etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and contribute to a team-focused environment.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, Google, and scheduling or registration platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Working Conditions:

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions and navigating active program environments.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.
  • This position is primarily onsite at council camps or office, with regular reimbursed travel required between council locations as needed.
  • This position will require a mix of both office setting and outside work environments throughout the week.
  • This position requires evening and weekend hours to attend events and meetings.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Employment is dependent upon the results of a criminal background.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:

Must be authorized to work in the United States and successfully complete a background and driving records screening.
