GSEWNI serves approximately 4,000 girls in kindergarten through 12th grade with the help of 2,000 dedicated adult volunteers. Girls are at the center of everything we do as a council. Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, the leading authority on girls’ healthy development and we are working daily with girls and women to transform the leadership landscape for girls into the next century.

Overview

The role of the Product Program Director is to oversee the planning, execution, reconciliation, and growth of the two Girl Scout Product Programs: the Fall Product Program and the Girl Scout Cookie Program. The director sets the overall strategic plan for the programs, in collaboration with other departments, to meet strategic objectives. The goal of the program is a financial performance that meets or exceeds annual budget, while also providing a quality program experience for Girl Scouts and volunteers participating. Troops should be able to successfully fundraise through the programs and girls should be developing the Five Skills (goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, business ethics) as program participants. Both of these contribute to the overall mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character that make the world a better place.

Planning

This includes setting program dates, creating program resources, developing program trainings, technical set-up of program software systems, and determining all program details. Planning is completed by the council product program team ultimately. Planning is also done with vendor partners.  Being able to work with and maintain relationships with vendor partners is critical.

Execution

The execution phase of each program includes customer service to volunteers and consumers, inventory distribution & management - including communication with delivery agents, regular in-season communication with members, and general coordination of all logistics.

Reconciliation

The wrap-up stage of programs includes procurement and distribution of program rewards, execution of experiential rewards, collection and organization of paperwork from volunteer leaders, collection of outstanding funds, and working in collaboration with the finance department on electronic record of financials.

Growth

Growth is an essential piece of the Product Programs. The director should be evaluating how the program can sustainably grow in the following areas: girl participation, per girl average, net sales, troop participation, donation items, and overall program satisfaction from participants.

Strategy

Strategic planning of the product programs requires that you are able to work in tandem with other departments and create strategic goals in partnership with the COO.
