Job Summary 

 

This is a full-time position responsible for leading and facilitating the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) Program in an after-school setting in a Troop Leader role. Creates a positive, engaging environment where youth can develop leadership skills through Girl Scout programming. This role requires strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills, along with a passion for working with youth.  

 

The role also ensures compliance with GSUSA standards, council guidelines, and safety protocols, while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and staying current on GSUSA information, processes, and training. This is a safety sensitive position. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Operates at school sites, meeting bi-monthly for two hours at a different school each day; 
  • Additional sessions or meeting types may be added based on enrollment; 
  • Preparing, leading, and concluding program activities; 
  • Recruit girls into the afterschool program through school outreach, presentations, family engagement events, and community partnerships; 
  • Recruit, onboard, and support adult volunteers to assist with program delivery and troop formation; 
  • Build and maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, and community partners to expand program reach; 
  • Meet or exceed membership recruitment goals for both girls and adults. 
  • Represent Girl Scouts at school events, community fairs, and partner meetings. 
  • Ensure all programming meets GSUSA standards, council guidelines, and safety protocols. 
  • Lead the Girl Scout Fall Product and Cookie Program for hybrid troops, including planning, training, coordination, and execution. 
  • Serve as the main contact for cookie program processes, timelines, and resources for hybrid troop sites.  
  • Track participation and sales data, ensuring accurate reporting and alignment with council product program goals. 
  • Promote girl-led learning outcomes of the cookie program, including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and goal setting. 
  • Support council initiatives and special projects as assigned. 
  • Maintain records of participation, program outcomes, and other key metrics to support council goals. 
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring financial accountability and adherence to council policies. Stay current on GSUSA information, processes, policies, and training.  
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, national guidelines, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives  
  • Act as a role model for Girl Scouts and staff, promoting the mission and values of the organization. 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

 Education and Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • 1 year of program development experience working with grades K-12 
  • Must have a valid driver's license within the state of employment. 

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

 

  • Experience with program planning, volunteer management, and familiarity with GSUSA programs. 
  • Passion for youth development and community service. 
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems, data management software, and social networking. 
  • Working knowledge of the procedures and legal issues associated with recruiting, selecting, supervising, and releasing adult volunteers. 
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines. 
  • Ability to obtain First Aid & CPR certification. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) products. 
  • Ability to learn new software as needed. 

 

 Physical and Schedule Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  
  • Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, campgrounds, and other off-site locations as needed. 
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as the job requires.
