Position Summary

The Director, Community Troop Program provides strategic leadership, management, and oversight for the Community Troop Program department and all related activities. The position is responsible for the strategic plan in support of future growth and expansion and provides oversight of all areas of planning, delivery, and employee development pertaining to the Community Troop Program.

 

At Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, most of our roles work in a hybrid capacity (in office, remote, and/or in the field). Details will be provided during the interview process.

This position is full time with a competitive minimum starting annualized starting salary of $81,597. Experience is considered.

Essential Job Duties

  •  Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Community Troop Program that aligns with GSEM programmatic guidelines and complement the Girl Scouts national program portfolio. 
  • Ensure Community Troop programming provides relevant, high-quality, well-rounded, and consistent experience that meets the needs of participants and supports ongonig program improvement. 
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to further develop and expand recruitment and retention initiatives for all girls in the GSEM jurisdiction map, including identifying additional programming and staff development needs. 
  • Works cross-functionally with others as necessary to ensure that participants have exposure to all of the programs that Girl Scouts offers, including, but not limited to, product programs, camps, and community service. 
  • Lead the development and manangement of strategic partnerships with Community Troop program partners and education sites, identifying opportunities to strengthen collaboration, expand program reach, and enhance programming experineces for Commuity Troop members. 
  • Provide leadership oversight of the Community Troop Program’s budget and fiscal operations, including partnering with Finance to develop annual cost center budgets, managing assigned cost centers and bank accounts within established guidelines, supporting grant and funding opportunities, and ensuring timely and accurate grant reporting and financial docuementation. 
  • Promote a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to staff, volunteers, members, and the general public.
  • Develop data-driven plans to achieve goals, setting benchmarks to measure success for all customer service and placement team members.  
  • Supervise, train, and manage assigned staff., overseeing their professional development.
  • Ensure overall compliance with any applicable internal policies, guidelines and funding source regulations.
  • Manage/ oversee team workload and activities of assigned team, ensuring team is sufficiently qualified and trained to perform their duties to a high standard.  
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. 
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required. 
  • Four (4) years of experience with external recruitment and retention, program design and delivery, and supervising a team.
  • Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
  • Red Cross First/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong people management and leadership skills, with good active listening skills and the ability to effectively motivate people.
  • Ability to manage processes and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to manage partner relationships. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to speak and present confidently and credibly in public.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in an environment of confidential data, and keep information confidential and private.
  • Ability to work independently within a strong teamwork philosophy toward common goals.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend meetings and events during the day, evening, and/or weekend.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time operating a computer, including navigating websites, software platforms, spreadsheets and both electronic and paper documents.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.

Occasionally positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.

May need to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.

The ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.

Is required to drive/ operate an automobile.

Work Environment

Constantly works in an indoor professional office environment. Exposed to moderate noise levels.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct reporting responsibilities.
