What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Support and Girl Recruiter position at GIRL SCOUTS HEART OF CENTRAL CALIFORNIA?
This Regional Coordinator position plays a key role in fostering a thriving and engaged volunteer community within designated service unit areas. This position focuses on recruiting and retaining members, providing training and resources, and recognizing volunteers' contributions. This role works closely in the field with service unit teams, internal departments, community partners, and the Regional Director to ensure volunteers are empowered and successful in delivering impactful Girl Scout experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Recruitment & Retention:
- Develop and implement data-driven strategies to attract and retain volunteers and members.
- Monitor membership trends, identify growth opportunities, and implement targeted retention efforts.
Volunteer Support & Development:
- Provide guidance, tools, and ongoing training opportunities to equip and empower volunteers, building their confidence and skills in their roles.
- Identify, recruit, and nurture key volunteer roles within service units, fostering strong leadership and engagement.
Program Support & Implementation:
- Collaborate with staff and volunteer teams to support the development and implementation of programs that align with Girl Scout leadership outcomes.
- Develop and implement initiatives that enhance the Girl Scout experience, including recognition and incentive programs.
- Champion inclusive and accessible engagement strategies that promote cultural awareness within the Girl Scout community.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations to expand program opportunities.
- Gather and analyze feedback to continuously improve volunteer-driven initiatives.
Volunteer Recognition & Engagement:
- Ensure meaningful volunteer appreciation efforts are implemented, including recognition events, awards, and ongoing engagement initiatives.
- Cultivate a culture of gratitude, connection, and belonging among volunteers.
- Maintain consistent communication with volunteers to ensure they feel valued, supported, and connected to the mission.
Operational & Community Partnership Management:
- Track and evaluate service unit health using key performance metrics, including membership growth, volunteer engagement, and leadership stability.
- Serve as a problem-solving resource for volunteer concerns, providing conflict resolution support and ensuring adherence to policies.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and data in Volunteer Systems (Salesforce) and other tracking tools.
- Manage assigned budget by tracking expenses and providing financial reports as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in volunteer management, youth development, or community outreach.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce or other database systems preferred.
- Commitment to the Girl Scout mission and values.
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
- Ability and willingness to be trained and drive a 30-foot Mobile STEM Center Maker Space RV vehicle. (Highly desired).
- Able and willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel within our 18-county territory. (40% )
